In the last update, made recently, the forecast of the National Hurricane Center of Miami (NHC) continues to attribute between 5 to 20% probability of the Madeira archipelago to be hit with wind of tropical storm intensity.

According to the Miami National Hurricane Center (NHC), the subtropical storm “Theta” has passed the tropical storm and is moving to the northeast (ENE), with an approximate speed of 17 km / h, about 1,080 km southwest of the archipelago of the Azores, which may influence the weather in the archipelago of Madeira between Friday (13th) and Sunday (15th), informed the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

According to the IPMA, therefore, on Friday, the 13th, a “gradual intensification of the wind is expected, becoming moderate to strong from the southwest to 50 km / h, with gusts up to 85 km / h in mountainous areas”. In the same statement, the IPMA reveals that there is a possibility that precipitation, with the occurrence of showers, may be accompanied by thunderstorms.

For Saturday, a continuation of the intensification of the wind and precipitation is expected, as well as of the sea agitation, with a significant height of the waves between 3 and 4 meters with directions from the west quadrant, and may temporarily increase to 4 to 5 meters.


Na última atualização, feita há pouco, a previsão do Centro Nacional de Furacões de Miami (NHC) continua na atribuir entre 5 a 20% de probabilidade do arquipélago da Madeira ser atingido com vento de intensidade de tempestade tropical.

De acordo com o Centro Nacional de Furacões de Miami (NHC), a tempestade subtropical “Theta” passou a tempestade tropical e encontra-se em deslocamento para és-nordeste (ENE), com uma velocidade aproximada de 17 km/h, situando-se cerca de 1.080 km a sudoeste do arquipélago dos Açores, podendo influenciar o estado do tempo no arquipélago da Madeira entre sexta-feira (dia 13) e domingo (dia 15), informou o Instituto Português do mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA).

Segundo o IPMA, assim, prevê-se para sexta-feira, dia 13, uma “intensificação gradual do vento, tornando-se moderado a forte de sudoeste até 50 km/h, com rajadas até 85 km/h nas zonas montanhosas”. No mesmo comunicado, o IPMA revela que existe a possibilidade da precipitação, com ocorrência de aguaceiros, ser acompanhada de trovoada.

Para sábado, prevê-se uma continuação da intensificação do vento e da precipitação, bem como da agitação marítima prevendo-se uma altura significativa das ondas entre 3 e 4 metros com direções do quadrante oeste, podendo temporariamente aumentar para 4 a 5 metros.
