Resolution takes effect as of 00:00 this Friday

The Regional Government approved, this afternoon, the resolution that embodies the measures announced yesterday by the President of the Regional Government, regarding measures to combat the pandemic of covid-19. Among the measures, emphasis is given to the possibility of determining mandatory confinement, if necessary, if the passenger refuses to comply with the rules upon arrival in the Region.

According to resolution 1032/2020, each traveler who disembarks at airports in the Autonomous Region of Madeira on flights from any territory outside the RAM is required to present proof of conducting a PCR screening test to SARS-CoV-2 with a negative result, provided it is carried out within a maximum period of 72 hours prior to departure.

Alternatively, you can collect biological samples on arrival, PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 infection, and then remain in isolation, at the respective home or at the hotel where you are staying, until a negative result is obtained of that test.

On the other hand, you can perform isolation, for a period of 14 days, at your home or at the hotel where you are staying, and if the accommodation is less than 14 days, the confinement will have the duration of the accommodation period.

If the passenger does not want to submit to these measures, he can return to the destination of origin or any other destination outside the territory of the Region, fulfilling, until the time of the flight, isolation at home or in the hotel establishment where he is staying.

It should be noted that this measure provides for some exceptions, such as children up to 11 years of age and people domiciled in Madeira or Porto Santo.
