Miguel Albuquerque has already asked the Representative of the Republic in RAM to convey to the President of the Republic the need to close the airport in Madeira, because he understands that “the only way to contain the contamination, because every flight that lands in our territory is a serious threat” .

He recalls, however, that he remained unanswered when he asked the State to cease flights to and from issuing countries and, therefore, awaits a firm decision by António Costa, this time.

The cases of exception to the airport closure happen only for people who have to travel to Porto Santo, transportation of patients, medicines, essential goods and repatriation of tourists.

“There is no need to keep the airport open,” he says.
